Wheel-throwing Intermediate - Thursday Evenings - Summer '25
Date: August 7-August 28 2025
Time: Thursday evening, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
This class is ideal for those who have taken multiple wheel classes and are ready to challenge themselves with more complex projects in a supportive and skill-building environment.
Designed for returning students and experienced potters looking to deepen their skills, this 4-week intermediate course builds on foundational wheel-throwing techniques with a focus on refinement, precision, and creative exploration. The first two weeks will feature targeted demonstrations covering advanced forms and techniques, such as throwing off the hump, multi-part vessels, matched sets, lidded forms, and spouted pieces.
In addition to form-building, during the third and fourth weeks, we’ll delve into a range of surface decoration techniques such as sgraffito, mishima, slip inlay, and layered textural effects, as well as advanced approaches to glazing. Students will be encouraged to work in sets, explore personal style, and set individual goals with instructor guidance.
A couple of things to note:
- A block of clay as well as all glaze and firing costs are included in the registration fee. Additional clay can be purchased from us at the studio.
- We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting clay on. Aprons are not provided.
- Students are required to bring their own hand-towel to class.
- Classes are for students ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.
- All courses are non-refundable.
- There are no partial refunds for missed classes.
- Although not guaranteed, we will try to accommodate one makeup class per 4 week session. Please notify us at least 7 days in advance.
- If registration doesn't reach the minimum number of students, we reserve the right to reschedule the class.
