  • Throw Bigger with Marc LaFoy

    Date: Sunday, February 23 2025

    Time: 2-5 pm (3 hours)

    Age: 16+

Location: Feldspar Ceramics, 1390 Gerrard St East

    About the workshop

Marc will take participants through his techniques for throwing taller, wider and thinner vessels and demonstrate trimming and finishing for larger vessels with the overall aim of making better pots. Marc will also work with participants one on one to help them understand how they might adapt some of his techniques into their own work.

This workshop is catered to intermediate and advanced potters with prior wheel-throwing experience.

This workshop focuses on the process of creating larger forms and as such, firing and glazing the workshop pieces are not included. However, those wishing to take their unfired pieces from the workshop home will be provided with 2 plaster bats.

    About Marc

Marc LaFoy (he/him, @yofal) is a recently retired art director and designer with a degree in fine arts. He still has the tempera-painted pinch pot that he made in kindergarten because his mom said it was "pretty". He has since worked in clay off and on since then, pursuing his practice seriously for the past dozen years. He recently opened Melba Studios (@melbastudios) with a partner at 1580 Queen Street East and displays his work in the windows there.
